In remembering our veterans on this day we are pleased that the Doolittle Raiders were honored with the meeting of 3 of the 4 surviving members of their famous raid on Tokyo during World War II. They were emblematic of a whole generation of Americans. When called upon to provide our nation with hope and resolve, the Doolittle Raiders did both, and, in so doing, deservedly became a part of the many legendary events during that terrible world war. It is obvious that our task as Americans is to try to conduct our lives according to the values for which they, like so many other patriots in our nation’s history, were willing to sacrifice their lives for. We honor and salute them all.
